Frequently asked questions

Will the PAT Testing disrupt my business operation?

Our engineers will need access to all equipment to test it and this will involve switching equipment off. However, equipment is tested in situ and we aim to cause the minimum amount of disruption. Out of hours testing is available on request.

What equipment has to be tested?

Any type of equipment which is powered by electricity. This can include I.T. equipment e.g. P.C's, printers, small kitchen equipment e.g. kettles, stationary equipment or appliances e.g. refrigerators, other portable appliances e.g. vacuum cleaners, hand held power tools e.g. drills and extension leads.

What tests do you perform?

Depending on the Class Construction of your equipment we may perform a variety of tests:-

Do you offer any other tests?

Yes - Microwave Leakage Detection. As well as conducting the usual inspections and tests as carried out on all of your other electrical appliances, we also offer a microwave leakage detection test for Microwave Ovens. This will test whether your microwave is safe i.e. that no harmful microwave radiation is leaking from around the door seal or anywhere else.

What if an appliances fails?

If an appliance fails a visual test e.g. incorrect fuse or a loose wire in a plug then rather than take the appliance out of service we will endeavour to safely repair the problem during the test and return the appliance to service without delay. If an appliance fails an electrical safety test and is therefore unsafe it will be labeled accordingly and immediately removed from service.
